On february 15th we took another step in the promotion of the Horti Fair winner – Bouvardia Royal Daphne Fresco. Our sales teams visited the breeder and grower of this product: Royal Van Zanten and Vreeken Bouvardia. The first step was to “re-introduce” Bouvardia amongst our own sales teams. Visiting the greenhouses and listening to grower Jaap Vreeken made us realise how much precision, technique and craftsmanship it takes to grow Bouvardia. The plants require a precise schedule of short and long days, temperature, water and nutrition to bloom.

In the meanwhile we discussed the reputation of the Bouvardia amongst wholesalers and florists around the world. While many still fear the vulnerability of Bouvardia, we learned that new varieties combined with improved growing techniques, such as the use of light, have led to much better Bouvardias: the “2.0” version has a much longer vase life and is far stronger than in the past.

Hilverda De Boer, Royal Van Zanten and the combined Bouvardia growers will organise the “Bouvardia week” from 23-27 April. We will keep you informed about this promotion week. From young plant to bloom.

FloraHolland awarded our company for being in the top 25 of buyers, who realised the largest growth in  auction clock purchases in 2011. The award depicts two people climbing to the top of three poles.

We thank FloraHolland, its growers and of course our customers for realising this growth together. We hope to continue this positive development in 2012, together we can climb higher!
