Two tools are now included in FloriPEFCR's new FSI-Basket tools

Both tools have been tested and included in the new FSI-Basket of FloriPEFCR tools. This approval marks a milestone for the industry in that it is now possible to obtain reliable and comparable environmental information at the product level according to the FloriPEFCR (Floriculture Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules) methodology.

The FloriPEFCR, recognized by the European Commission, provides a uniform standard for calculating the environmental impact of cut flowers and potted plants. With these approved tools, companies can calculate and report the environmental impact of their product in a consistent manner. This allows the floriculture industry to use reliable data to work in a targeted way to increase sustainability. “This calculation method provides us with a scientifically based method to strengthen our sustainability efforts. With reliable data, we can work effectively to reduce our footprint and demonstrate that our sector is taking steps toward positive impact,” said Jeroen Oudheusden, Executive Officer of FSI.

FSI hopes that other developers will join this initiative so that tools complement each other and the industry can take concerted steps toward greater sustainability.
