Seven years ago, a search began for the perfect purple Celosia, one that doesn’t constantly need adjustments in lighting, temperature, and growth regulators. Together with breeders, Preferred Supplier Ammerlaan-Sosef went all-in on improvement. The result? A Deep Purple with strong genetics that grows more naturally.
The outside remains the same: same intense colour, same sleeve. But the inside, the DNA, has been optimised. This new generation of Deep Purple:
- Requires less heat (grows at 18 instead of 21 degrees Celcius)
- Grows without additional lighting
- Grows and blooms in tune with greenhouse conditions
"We wanted a Celosia that’s less dependent on artificial intervention. Now, Deep Purple grows as naturally as possible in the greenhouse, without extra lighting or heating. That’s not only more sustainable, but it also delivers a more stable product for our customers." – Ammerlaan-Sosef
For customers, this means a more stable product, less dependent on external factors, and most importantly: a more sustainable choice. The old Deep Purple will gradually be phased out, but until then, both versions will be available.
